Helping
Women Make a CHOICE for LIFE
What is our mission?
Woman’s Choice is a Christian ministry whose mission is to defend
life by supporting women in crisis pregnancies; to challenge our community
to adopt a Godly view of sexuality and the sanctity of human life; and
to bring healing and wholeness to lives traumatized by abortion.
What is our history?
We were founded in 1977 (as Lifeline of Charleston, Inc.) through the
corporate effort of the local Catholic community. Our base of support
has expanded to include a broad spectrum of Christian individuals. Since
1977, we have received thousands of calls on our helpline and we have
provided pregnancy tests and counseling to almost 8,000 clients. Additional
clients have received material assistance. In 1989, we elected to officially
declare ourselves a Christian evangelistic ministry. Our name was changed
to Woman’s Choice, Inc., in 2002 to avoid being mistakenly identified
with other agencies (which were not pro-life) that had adopted “Lifeline”
in their names. Woman’s Choice is affiliated with Heartbeat International,
a crisis pregnancy center network, and also America’s Crisis Pregnancy
Helpline.
What do our services include?
Our free, confidential services include a crisis helpline, pregnancy
testing, information on the procedures, risks and effects of abortion,
education on early fetal development, abstinence counseling and parenting
classes. We offer clothing, baby items, a support program, and referrals
for housing, medical care and adoption agencies. We also put women in
touch with available community support services. We have established
a post-abortion support group for those suffering from the consequences
of their “choice.”
How can you help us?
Most of all, we need the foundation of PRAYER that will keep
this ministry strong in the Lord, accomplishing His purposes. Since
our services are provided primarily through trained volunteers, we need
PEOPLE who can give their time and talents to help others.
We need FAMILIES willing to open their homes to women in need
of shelter during their pregnancies. Finally, we rely on individuals
and church families for our MATERIAL SUPPORT.
We would be happy to provide specific information concerning our organization,
the services we provide, and the content of presentations, workshops
and seminars we offer on related topics for your church, school, youth
group, etc., to appropriate committees or individuals.
Thank you for your support!
